Problem installing XP 3 release candidate

F

FiarHors

Hello,

I have just tried to install the Windows XP Service Pack 3 Release Candidate.

Everything goes well until the install arrives at the file UNIDRV.DLL (which
is a printer driver) where the install stops.

I then receive the following message:

Service Pack 3 Setup...
Access is denied.

Which is then followed by:

Service Pack 3 Setup Error

Service Pack 3 installation did not complete.
Select 'OK' to undo the changes that have been made.

After selecting 'OK', the Software Update Removal Wizard opens and does its
thing.

After the wizard is finished the following message appears:

Service Pack 3 Setup Error

Service Pack 3 installation did not complete.
Windows XP has been partially updated and may not work properly.

I then click 'OK' and my computer restarts.

I am performing this install as an update, not as a clean install.

Can anyone suggest what can be done about this problem without having to
perform a clean install?

Thank you for your assistance.

Unless you are a PAID Beta Tester, you should be using Beta or Relaese Candidates.
Please wait until the actual WinXP SP3 is released to the public.

And when you downloaded SP3 it made it perfectly clear that it was in BETA
/pre release stage and even gave you a specific website for
problems..............
not much of a BETA tester if you cannot even read the instructions

Being a Beta release MS get you to test it so they don`t have to pay
out when it screws up other comps .
