I'm trying to setup dual boot with Windows 95 & XP.(have XP right now). Partittioned and formatted 2 different drives (one FAT, Other FAT32) (using XP CD, recovery Console). The problem is after I Format the drive that XP is on, when I restart with Window 95 boots disk in CD-Rom drive (to install it on the FAT drive) it won't run. It detects the CD Rom drive but it won't run the 95 Setup. instead gives me an error. I have Phoneix award BIOS and it boots form CD ROM, Dirve A and then C:. Any suggestions???

P.S. I'm doing this so I can run Chessmaster 6000 on windows 95. Already tried Compatibility Wizard and it didn't work.

Sorry! but I don't exactly remember the error message, it was either of "HLL" error or "kernel". As for using CM 9000, I'm being really cheap & don't want to buy it beacause apparently the 10th edition is coming out in August.

thanx

Update. I tried it again to determine the error. The error that I get is related to nvidia boot agent. (I have an nvidia graphic card FX5200) it gives me errors of "PXE-E53: No boot file name received." My boot sequence is, 1st nvidia bios boot, then phoenix award bios & then windows xp. How can I bypass these nvidia Bios?? or any other solutions to my problem??
thanx.

Can't bypass a BIOS. Yes, the vid. card BIOS should load first, but it
shouldn't be giving you any errors about a .dll. And IIRC, the 95 CD wasn't
bootable on its own - but it's been a while.

Quick google search resulted in these (and it's apparently not video card
related : )

(others actually seem to deal with people who *want* to boot from a network
drive....)

Ok. I dug out the old PC out of the box.( it still works). Created a Windows 95 setup floppy (you were right, it wasn't suppose to boot from CD). so now a new problem, the setup doesn't detect my CD-Rom drive( on my present PC) to run the Windows 95 CD. Any fix???

You need a copy a "dos" driver for your CD drive onto the Win95 setup
diskette.
