I just reinstalled XP Home on my Dell Dimension 2350 using the included
install disk. As always, after the reinstall the resolution is stuck at
640x480 until drivers are installed. Usually, I use the driver disk, but
that is now broken, so I downloaded the appropriate driver from the Dell
website and extracted it to the appropriate folder.

Now: The problem. Under Display Setttings > Settings > Monitor >
Advanced, Properties is disabled, and this is where all the
instructions I have found tell me to go to install drivers. Can anyone
help?

A second, milder problem is that my hard drive is identified as F:,
likely due to me having a USB drive in during installation? Can I fix
this using TweakUI?

For the monitor problem:
Start up the Device Manager
Find the Monitor on the list of devices
Right Click on the Monitor and you should get a popup menu that has Update
Driver on it
Then just follow the prompts like usual

It's not there, in any level of the tree.

Usually, when you have a resolution problem, your video card drivers and
chipset drivers are not up to date or are the "standard" drivers provided by
Microsoft during the XP install. Update the video card drivers and chipset
drivers. Then, the monitor may display correctly as "Default monitor".
