Hi rich,

You don't mention the version of XP that you have installed. That keyboard
will only work with a Media Center PC that has Window XP Media Center Edition
2005 or later installed (or Windows Vista, but you stated you were running
XP) and has a Media Center Edition Infrared Receiver.

Regards,

the problem is it wil not self install itself, ie no plug and play, i plug it
in to usb and then nothing. keyboard volume up and down works on my tv and i
haven't even told it to learn that. but as for working on my computer it does
nothing at all. no communication no nothing, even holding it right up to the
infra red device thing.

hi, have found what my operating system is. microsoft windows xp home edition
version 2002 service pack 2.
do i have to get new operating system like vista to get this to work, i have
all the equipment to do with the keyboard, when i got the keyboard it came
with the infrared receiver and the remote as well.
i would have thought even if wrong system the keyboard ie the main keys on
the keyboard would have worked though, even if the other keys didn't. isn't a
keyboard, a keyboard at the end of the day??

Before you can use that keyboard, you must have Windows Media Center Edition
2005 (or Vista Home Premium or Vista Ultimate editions) and the PC must come
equipped with an IR receiver that was originally designed for the Media
Center remote control. It does not work with a Media Center Extender for Xbox
or with a Media Center Extender set-top box. Also, you'll need to download an
updated driver from Microsoft (the driver is not included with the keyboard)
to enable communication between the keyboard and your Media Center's built-in
receiver:
"Update Rollup 2 for eHome Infrared Receiver for Windows XP Media Center
Edition 2005 (KB912024)"
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...F1-0AC9-433B-B488-4CAB82F31DC8&displaylang=en

So I guess, in this case, a keyboard may not be just a keyboard at the end
of the day.

Regards,
