A .MSI file is bascially a Microsoft Installer file, browse the Halo 2 DVD
in the Redist folder, see if you can find the vcredist.msi file, right click
on it and run as admin.

Try installing again.

Alright, I've tried going to the root of the problem here. The
redists/vcredist.msi file claims to need the Windows Visual c++
Distributable Disk to continue. I previously had no knowledge of such a
disk, and I know for sure I don't have said disk. I've tried running the
setup as an admin, and I can't find the "run as admin" when I right
click this file. I just got this game yesterday, and so far I've
installed the Vista service pack 2 and I've done everything I could
possibly think of. Now I'm stuck.

I have successfully installed Halo and Halo 2 onto my Vista Ultim ate
SP2 64bit.

Make sure that you have all the Important updates installed.

You may need to uninstall the Halo 2, if it is listed

You might need to get the Windows Installer Cleaner so as to delist
the Halo 2 / C ++ entries.
