problem inserting captions into a document

Can anyone help with this problem please:

I'm trying to insert captions for photographs in Word - something I've done
many times without a problem. At the moment, when I try to insert a caption
(using "references"/"insert caption" the dialogue box that opens will not
allow me to insert any text in the caption title i.e. to give my photograph a
name. However, I've discovered that I can cut and paste text into the
caption dialogue box but it appears to the far right of the box, almost as if
it is right aligned. Can anyone help?

Sorry - I've managed to solve this myself now. The problem was with the
style description for 'caption' where the text was set to be centred instead
of left aligned.
