Problem in starting XP on my laptop

Recently I have had a problem in completing a full start up. The XP logo
shows and then the icons for my desktop appear, but then it does not complete
the process and freezes. Perhaps it is a hard drive problem or maybe
something else - please help.

You are seeing some hardware problem, either physical, or driver damage. You
might find something in the event viewer. Try safe mode.
