Hi all

I have a user who has 800 mb PST file. I upgraded his
machine from 98 to 2000. Now his Outlook XP freezes when
he opens it. This is what I did. I moved the original PST
file from the default location. Opened Outlook and
connected to a new PST file. Now I would like to import
only the inbox of the original file that I moved over to
the server. I highlight inbox in the new empty PST,
select import/export , import from PST , location
\\server\oldPST , highlight inbox , including subfolders,
import into the current folder. Now after few min Oulook
freezes, and I am not able to Open it , even after a
reboot. Then I notice after selecting Outlook Icon
Properties on the desktop, that in Data Files there are 2
Data files, 1 has the default path
(C:\Doc+Settings\User\Local
Setting\AppData\Msft\Outlook\outlook.pst), that`s fine
and second data file is the path of the file who`s inbox
I tried to import.(\\server\oldpst) After I remove this
data file, Outlook starts. But why doesn`t it import the
inbox and freezes? This drives me insane, since this PST
belongs to some important salesman in my comp.

Please Help
Cheers

You might want to try using scanpst to check the old pst
file for errors.
