I have been trying to import contacts from an excel spreadsheet to Business
Manager Outlook 2007
and my attemps have been unsuccessful. I really would appreciate any help or
tips on how to manage this operation. thanking you in advance.
I got the following response in the Excel Newsgroup: so I thought I would
the Outlook newsgroup.

With your Contacts info in columns in Excel..................
Name.........Address..........emaoil.........whatever

Save the workbook after giving your list a defined
name through Insert>Name>Define.

Outlook likes that.

With Outlook open go to File>Import Export>"Import from another program or
file"

Follow your nose from there to choose your Excel workbook.

Note: the mapping can be done while importing.

To see the full list of fields Outlook has, export some of your your
contacts to
a new Excel workbook to get an idea of what's available for mapping.

Thanks for your input but I am still having a problem importing my contacts.
My spreadsheet is exactly as your sample ie: Name....
Address......phone....etc.
but when I try to import the file I get a error window that says "Unable
to load File" I'm using Outlook 2007 with Business Contact Manager.
I'm not sure what you mean by giving the list a defined name through
Insert>Name>Define. could you elaborate please?

First quick thing to try is:
- export your Contacts folder from Outlook to an XLS file
- use that file as a guide to creating your import file
- try importing that file

Thank you Vince, I tried this approach but no luck. I am still getting the
BCM error msg " cannot load file" could the problem be that the excel
spreadsheet
was from an earlier version of excel?
