OS=XP-SP2; The file "tracking.log" in System Volume Information folder won't
allow a Spyware or virus scan. Hangs them up so they can't even be canceled.
Even just clicking on it, either to open it or check its properties,
completely hangs up the computer requiring a manual shutdown and restart. I
tried deleting it from C:>. Was able to change the attributes OK, but it
wouldn't delete. Is there an effective alternate way to delete it?

P.S. Was able to delete the file in Safe Mode but it returned with the same
effects after regular re-boot.

Don't worry about doing scans in the SVI folder. That holds restore points.
Any malware in there won't affect the system unless you restore to that
point. If you want to be sure, turn off system restore which will delete
all existing restore points, reboot and turn SR back on then create a new
restore point.

Thanks, Rock! However, a complete system scan will automatically scan the SVI
folder. There it hangs up. According to other info I've received, this is a
problem for a lot of other people, too. In that info is this link:
http://tinyurl.com/6xf9gz, which has a blog specific to my problem since I
use AVG Free 7.5 and AVG Anti-Spyware.
