Problem Deleting Files

I recently installed a program that turned out to have ad-
ware bundled with it (Free History Cleaner). Needless to
say, I uninstalled the program, but it left files that I
can move, but not rename or delete. There is no
extension on the files (one file is named "ads[1]."), and
they have no size (0kb). When I try to rename or delete
them I get the message, "Cannot delete ads[1].: Cannot
find the specified file. Make sure you specify the
correct path and file name". I have tried using notepad
to try to rename the files by replacing them or creating
an identical copy, and other deletion methods (MS-DOS),
but nothing seems to work.
