Problem deleting a file in Favorites folder

I am trying to delete an internet shortcut file from my Favorites folder.
When I try to delete
it, I get an error message message entitled "Error Deleting File or Folder."
It says "Cannot Delete xxx" "Cannot find specified file...make sure you
specify correct path and file name."

Is there anyway to delete this unwanted file?

Close your Internet connection.
Close all IE windows.
Open Windows Explorer and navigate to C:\Windows\Favorites.

Right click on the favorite you wish to remove and delete it .

If this is some reference to some unwanted sites, then check this out.


Try this: Tools > Internet Options > Advanced > Browsing
Uncheck the Enable 3rd party browser extensions

If this clears your problem then find out who the culprit(s) is/are with
these tools.

p.s Reset the 3rd party browser setting.
