Problem creating a document with more than one page

Word will not automatically create a second page when typing a document.. It
keeps track of the words, but they do not appear and I can not find them.
Also, If I have a document that is longer than two pages created only by
adding a blank page, I can not add a paragraph to a previous "full" page
without the whole document disappearing.

I have tried to use the self diagnosis, reinstalled the program, and Dell's
go to assist guy could not figure it out.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.
 
Try selecting all, and then setting column number to one. It may already be
one, but sometimes this helps.
 
that seemed to work, but now my margins are messed up. If I select normal
margins, it puts the text off of the page on the right
