problem changing font PowerPoint

I have to replace Arial with Verdana anywhere in an old PPT presentation. I
did it in the master slides and now can insert text with Verdana even within
the old Arial text, but any old Arial text can't be changed to Verdana.
Nobody knows in what PPT version and on what computer the original pres. was
created. Please help!

Use Format > Replace Fonts.

It appears that perhaps the original slides may have been created using text
boxes (not master placeholders).

Let me know if this works.
