problem after installing new motherboard

Ok, I have an HP Pavilion 503n dekstop pc. I recently fried my
motherboard
(http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/...lang=en&product=90381&dlc=en&docname=bph07813)
and decided to buy another one to replace it
(http://www.directron.com/u8668d.html). That was the only good match
that I could find and it seemed to support my processor (an Intel
Celeron D).

After installing the motherboard and hooking everything up I happen to
find that my computer doesnt boot up at all. When I turn my computer
on, the fans start going, both the cpu fan and the case fans. However I
hear no beeps, no familiar floppy drive noises, and nothing shows up on
my monitor. It's as if it doesn't even receive any input. I've tried
everything I can think of and rechecked everything yet it still doesn't
work. Nothing shows up on screen and I dont hear the familiar
motherboard noises I used to hear.

Are there any compatibility issues I haven't thought of? I mean as far
as I could tell the motherboards were very similar. Could someone
please tell me if this motherboard is compatible with my processor or
and if that's not the case do you have any suggestions?

Thanks in advance

DANGER WILL ROBINSON! HP power supplies are not compatible with
ordinary motherboards!

You need a standard power supply. it's also not likely to fit it that
case. Sorry.

Many "brand" manufacturers try to protect their business by using
proprietary and incompatible parts. This could involve motherboards, power
supplies, memory, and others. So, if your choice is to buy a brand PC,
you'll have to stay with them for components, and pay the (high)price.
Conclusion: if you're not a company, build your PC, and install the
components of your choice!

Did you plug in the 2x2 square power connector ?
That carries 12V to power the processor's Vcore power source.

This is most likely wrong. HP's manual for their motherboard
calls the power connector ATX, which is a recognized standard.

They call it that, but I once made the mistake of beleving it. I put an
hp motherboard in a new case, non hp power supply. It booted, but it
died in a month. Then I did it again. and the second one did the same
thing.

Some OEMs have at one time or another used proprietary PSU
in some of their systems, but this does not mean all of
their systems did at that point in time nor that they did at
some other point in time. Insufficient info to know what
the OP has, a look at the PSU label and it's main
motherboard connector and wiring colors should resolve this
question.

Check for anything shorting out.
Make sure both power connectors are plugged in.

Remove (disconnect) any and all accessory cards, drives,
etc- leaving only 1 memory module, CPU, heatsink/fan, and if
you had a video card installed, pull it out and use the
onboard video temporarily. This is all with AC power
disconnected, and while disconnected, use the clear CMOS
jumper or pull battery for 10 minutes.

If it still doesn't work, get an RMA from Directron and get
something else. There should be plenty of boards that
support Celeron D in mATX format.
