Hi,
I have just upgraded from Windows 98 to Windows XP Pro,
all went well except I cannot install my printer.
I have an HP LJ 1010 which was working perfectly under
98, no problem.
Under XP it identifies it as 'Generic IEE 1284.4
Printing Support'. Every time I turn the machine on, it
says it found new hardware, IEE 1284.4 etc etc.
I install the printer driver either by usin the .inf file
from the HP install disk or by running the full install
process from the HP disk. Either way, it copies all the
HP files etc and seems to get all the way to the end and
fails.
I get the Microsoft Problem report.
'Spooler Subsystem App
Spooler Subsystem App has encountered a problem and needs
to close.'
The error signiture is:
szAppName: spoolsv.exe
szAppVer: 5.1.2600.0
szModName: unknown
szModVer: 0.0.0.0
offset 00000000
Techincal Info
c:\docume~1\Username\Locals~1\Temp\WERFB.tmp.dir00
\svspool.exe.mdmp
c:\docume~1\Username\Locals~1\Temp\WERFB.tmp.dir00
\appcompat.txt
I have let it send the report to Microsoft, however I
need to print fairly urgently, so if anyone else has had
a similar problem or knows of a way round this, please
please post a reply.
By the way, I have searched the KB but to no avail.
Thanks in advance,
Neil
