Pro vs Media

I have been using Windows XP Professional for some time (now SP2). A new
computer I just ordered will arrived loaded with Microsoft Windows XP Media
Center Edition 2005. What are the substantive differences?

Since I use FrontPage to develop web sites, I do use IIS on my local
machine. Is it available in Media Edition? If not, can I add it?

Or do I need to install Professional over Media Edition?

Thanks for your help.

Does that mean it includes IIS, or that I can install it separately?

Or...

I found (by searching the Media Center Edition newsgroup) that IIS is
included on the MCE disk, but not installed by default.

Thanks.

Right. The primary difference between Pro and MCE (other than the
obvious MCE components) is that MCE cannot be joined to a domain.
Typically not a problem for the home user.

Unless you upgrade then it will remain a domain client.

Yes, there are other ways as well. Only one of which (hacking the
system) will even work on a new machine ordered with MCE and that one
would leave you completely unsupported.
