pro modem issues

I am trying to install xp pro on my laptop- however I
cannot get the dial up connection setup. When I try to
make a new connection when I get to the screen that has
dial up, broadband, and broadband always on screen- only
the "BB always on" is highlighted ( able to click on). In
sys prop it says that the modem is in ok, also modem
dials out when doing a modem test- but windows will not
let me setup a dial up conn. This xp pro disk id several
yrs old and may not have sp1- I dont know. Please help.
 
I had the same problem with a clean install of XP home-this is a known issue in microsoft knowledge base--there is a fix for it --search Knowledge base for solution
