No action when in Internet Options

When in Internet Options, under Connections. I have to switch between "Never
dial a connection" (because I use cable broadband) but then I have to (at
times) go to a modem for a reason and use a dial-up and switch to "Always
dail my default connection" Latley when I hit "Apply" the program just sits
there and does nothing. I has become more difficult to switch between them.
Also I get a "Rundll32.exe" when it does not apply or hitting "OK"...I have
to rest computer to get out of all.

While this doesn't answer your actual query, it may help with your
situation.

You don't need to go into internet options to change the connection. You can
dial up to the internet without being in internet explorer or outlook
express or whatever.

Just click Start then you should see "Connect to" with a call-out to the
right. In the call-out, you should be able to see your connection. Just
click that and away you go.

To disconnect, I have not tried this, but you should be able to re-open the
connection as above and disconnect.

Oddly, I'm still using a phone modem and have broadband as well.

When I want to use the phone modem for connectivity, I have a shortcut for
that connection (ISP using modem) on my desktop. I simply use that. From
there on out, I'm connected via that ISP to the internet. IE uses that
connection as well even though internet options says to never never dial a
connection. Outlook for email is the same, and OE for newsgroups is the
same.

For ease of use, just copy that as a shortcut on the desktop. Works for me.

No. If connected via phone modem, an icon will be displayed in the RH lower
corner. Simply right click and select disconnect. Said icon disappears
after disconnect. In my case, I am connected again via broadband.

I tried what you had mentioned. Yes it worked, but when I disconnected then
tried to go into Outlook Express the auto dialer came up, when I was trying
to us the broadband, I then checked under the Internet Options and the
"always dial" bubble was highlighted.
I tried to hit the "Never dial" bubble
That's where my problem begins. You hit "APPLY" and the hour galss just sits
there forever. And when I try to shut it down, a little window comes up and
sayd there is a "Rundll32.exe" responding problem.
So I guess back to I original question....what can be done with the
"Rundlll32.exe" file?

Rundll32.exe had trouble executing the commands in a .dll which is
probably damaged, or the .dll's registry entries are damaged; I doubt
that Rundll32.exe itself is the problem.

First, try these:

From Internet Explorer go to: Tools, Internet Options. Select Advanced
tab and click the "Restore Defaults" button. Click OK

-AND-

From Internet Explorer go to: Tools, Internet Options. Select the
Programs tab and click the "Reset Web Settings" button. Click OK.

Try IEFix - General purpose fix for Internet Explorer

In my case, I only run OE for newsgroups. Only one of many news servers on
my selection has an ISP connection that requires logon to that ISP, then
logon to the ISP's news server. In that case, I'm forced to use dialup.
I"ve never tried to go around the requirement using broadband as I know it
wouldn't work due to the ISP's logon requirement first. Maybe that's what
you're trying to circumvent unknowingly?

Ironically, it all has worked in the past. I really can figure out what
