i have financial data on a laptop. i need to give it to a friend of mine to repair. the data is encrypted. when he becomes an admin, can he look at my data?

Can he access your profile?
If so he has access.

Also see Law 3 on this link:
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/archive/community/columns/security/essays/10imlaws.mspx
This also applies to encrypted data even though it may be impossible
to decrypt.
With that in mind, you should remove EVERYTHING of a sensitive nature
before turning over the computer.

is there a way to set up xp pro so that one admin cannot read files from another admin (that way i could set up a unique admin code.

do i need pgp?

Any Administrator can do and undo anything any Administrator can do.
You need a 3rd party product.
Or better yet, have only one Administrator.
And that Administrator should not be used for routine work.

Then the users need to upgrade to a newer version and/or suggest to
quicken they update their software as other manufacturers have done.
Having all users as Administrators is a great security risk and
bypasses much of available security.

quicken requires admin to use. so anyone who has a secretary that
enters checks into quicken, should know that they have access to
everything on your computer.
