When I purchased my dell system,I also purchased windows
xp home edition. It came with IE6.I don't like IE6 and
wanted to use netscape 7.0 as my default browser, but when
I start up my ISP,net zero,IE6 always comes up
automatically.I tried to change my default settings, but
IE6 always comes up anyway. If I change netscape 7.0 to my
default,on the next startup,it automatically changes the
default back to IE6.Is there anyway to change this so
that I am not forced to have IE6 as my default browser?
Thankyou

What problems have you encountered with IE? Is it possible that you may have
inadvertently garbled some settings? Have you installed all of the updates?
Unless you know the answers to these questions, the same or similar problems
may crop up after you install Netscape.

Not that there is anything wrong with Netscape, but IE is really a fine
program when properly installed and maintained.

By the way, using your real email address in NG posts just invites spam. Use
a fake one instead.

I believe that Juno/NetZero build their web interface on IE6 and there
is no alternative. You can, after IE6 is open, open Netscape manually,
then navigate to the webmail page. It accomplishes what you want, but
not the way one would want to do it, which is automatically when
Juno/NetZero launches, and you lose the functionality of the navigation
bar.

In Control Panel - Internet Options, Programs page, uncheck the box
'Internet explorer should check to see if it is the default browser'.
You should then be able to use the option in Netscape to set *that* as
default, and have it stick
