I am using Word 2007 on the Windows Vista platform. When I print one
particular file the printout has black marks on the right side just inside
the edge of the paper. The marks correspond to the lines that contain text.
These marks are not visible when viewing the file and this has not happened
with any other file. Does anyone have any idea what these are and how to get
rid of them? Thanks so much!!

The lines might be "change bars" that indicate tracked changes. If you
press Ctrl+P and choose "Document" (not "Document showing markup") in
the "Print what:" dropdown, do the lines go away on the printout?

I followed your recommendation and the bars are still there. I have no idea
where they came from. The document does have an image of a map inserted on
each page. Could that have something to do with it? The bars are present in
the area of the image, but there is also text to the side of it with
directions.

Then my guess would be a printer driver problem. If you can print to
another printer, try that. If your printer has more than one
"personality" (for example, some HP LaserJets have both PCL6 and
Postscript personalities), then try printing to an alternate driver for
your printer. You might also experiment with reducing the print
resolution, or turning off background printing in Word, or turning off
print spooling and advanced text services for your printer in Windows.

Thanks so much for the advice. I was unable to get the document to print (I
was using a HP LaserJet) correctly even though every other Word document
looked fine. I ended up recreating it and the new document prints perfectly.
Thanks again for the help!!!
