printing white characters on a black background

Technically you don't print white, you'll print a black area with a void
where the text is. Try using a black highlight with white text or put your
white text inside a back cell of a table.

Apply black shading to your text (Format | Borders and Shading). If font
color is set to Automatic, the text will become white. A bold sans serif
font is advised for reversed text.
