Printing received faxes to network printer fails

I'm having trouble getting W2K Pro SP3 to print to a network printer
when it receives a fax. The Application Log says:

Unable to print I:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application
Data\Microsoft\Windows NT\MSFax\faxreceive\06ca2f7100.tif to
\\OFFICE\LASERJET 5MP. The following error occurred: The network
request is not supported..

This network printer is the default printer. Right-clicking on one of
the received faxes and selecting Print works fine; it just won't print
automatically when the fax arrives. The LAN uses peer-to-peer
networking; it doesn't have a domain controller.

Thanks.

What is I:? Is it by any chance a network drive as well.

How did you connected to the printer? Is your machine a workgroup ?
If you connect to the printer with some network credentials and your machine
is a workgroup , route to printer fails.
Try adding your machine to the domain to which network printer is part of.

I connect to the printer by specifying \\server\printername as the
printer in the "Do this when I receive a fax: Print on ...." setting
under Fax Service Management.

Both machines are part of the same workgroup. There's no domain
controller involved, just peer-to-peer networking.

If the problem is that the fax service doesn't supply any password,
how can I get the fax service to connect to the printer using the
correct password? (When I right-click on an image in Received Faxes
and select Print, it doesn't ask for a password. It remembers the
right password. How can I get the fax server to do the same?)
