Printing Photo from DVD image

F

I have tried numerous methods to screen capture images
from a wedding DVD-R disk in order to make prints.

Using "print screen" or any of several screen capture
programs provides the captured image on screen, which can
be then saved or converted into "BMP, GIF, JPG" files
etc. Efforts to crop the captured image, appears to be
working, however when I attempt to move the cropped
image, the outer frame moves but the image remains in
place and the frame simply slides over the parts of the
original cropped out image.

Any attempts to print the cropped image (or the pre-
cropped image) result in the print being a black square
or rectangle.

How can prints be made from paused images on a DVD?

YVES:
So what you are saying is, that I need a program
to "extract" the still images, if I wish to print
them.....even though I can pause the DVD and do a screen
capture, save the image to a file, I won't be able to
print them without this program or some other similiar
application.

Is there a simple explanation why the images I presently
can capture, will not be printable regardless of the file
type...eg. jpg, gif, or bmp?

I use Power DVD to play the movie. It has the capability of extracting still
images on the fly or during pause and saving them a BMP files in a folder
you select. Then you can print the images.
They have a free trial (but I don't know if this feature is included in the
demo) here:

Do you have a DVD drive and a software program
that allows you to play commercial DVD movies on
your computer? If you do, it may have a *Capture*
option. (Check the help files of your particular program)

I use the same program that Yves does...Power DVD
....and it creates printable .bmp files. I just left click the
"Capture" button and the .bmp image file is immediately
saved to a folder of my choice.

BTW...a regular *Print Screen* command that simply
copies the content of your screen to your clip board
will not capture Video.

I don't know. Clipboard takes a lot of RAM and maybe you are exceeding it.
I can do a little better than you can.
I PrtScr of a paused video screen.
I open Paint and Edit, Paste.
Use the rectangle tool, crop the image. Right click inside the crop and
Copy.
Then, File, New, Edit, Paste. The crop will show but never cropped properly,
black left and top and then only part of the image.
So, best I have found so far is playing the DVD with Power DVD and capturing
the images with it.
