printing not allined

I just installed XP with a Compaq IJ300 printer. The test
page says to allign with the number best alligned. I can
enter that number, but the numbers below the lines are
all crooked. ALL crooked. When I print a page of
anything, the letters are all crooked and the alignment
didn't mean anything. Where do I go to get my printing
aligned?
 
Been all thru the manual - just aligns vertically - my
horizonal prints 3 times close together. How do you align
the horizonal?
