Printing multiple files from a subdirectory

We are trying to print about 4000 files from a
subdirectory by highlighting all of them and sending to a
network printer. We are having two problems. First, the
spooler hangs after several hundred documents. Second,
the documents print in a seemingly random order. The
subdirectory is organized alphabetically but the printed
order is not alphabetical. Win2K, the files are all
*.tif. Printer is an HP8150. Any suggestions?

The hanging problem I can't be of much help. I do
something similar with PDF files, but the numbers are not
big. If you are spooling to a network queue, try turning
off the Windows os spooler and let the server queue handle
it. If you aren't sending to a network queue it sounds
like the queue is not flushing fast enough to keep up with
the files coming in.

The random issue is just Windows. It doesn't print in the
sorted order. It prints in the order it finds them on the
disk (I think). No matter what you do from explorer, even
copy them to another folder, they will always be in random
order. There are some third party printing utilies for
PDF's that print in sorted order. I would image there is
one of Tif's as well.
