printing message

When I send something to printer, I will sometimes get this message"Word is
preparing to print in background" and it will just sit there. What is the
cause of this?
 
Try turning off background printing in Word.

In Word 2007, click on Office Button | Word Options | Advanced |
scroll down to the "Print" section and uncheck the "Print in
background" box | OK.

In Word 2003 or earlier, click on Tools | Options | Print tab |
uncheck the "Background printing" box | OK.
