Wouldn't that have overwritten the existing data? I needed to keep whatever
contact & calendar data I had on the newer machine plus add the contact data
from the older machine.

Honestly the export/import was easy to do and worked fine (except for that
bit about Word not recognizing the folders in a mail merge). They include it
in every version of the program, so (IMO) it should be expected to work and
be safe to use. In any case I do not appear to be having any problems as a
result of the import.

Certainly not, since you would put the copied PST in a folder OTHER THAN the
folder where Outlook creates PSTs by default.

But you DO lose data. That's a fact.

You're always liable to "lose data" when you export just one part of a
relational database. The more you have appointments related to contacts and
categories and tasks and photos and other relationships like that, the more
likely that you will "lose data" when you export something and import it
somewhere else. I really don't think I lost anything, but I guess I'll find
out...
