printing .jpg files

Hello,
I have a .jpg image that fits perfectly on an 8.5x11 piece of paper. I
insert it as a picture into a FP table (it becomes gigantic for some reason
so I grab the corner and reduce it), then make a thumbnail out of it, but
can't find any way to get it to print like it does out of Paint. It seems to
have grown 400% somehow. What's the trick or what is the best way to allow
visitors to print my image? Thank you for any help you can provide.

it looks so big on the screen because the resolution of a screen is between
72 and 96 px per inch, and it's not that way on the printer.

to have it print exactly right, you may want to look into providing it as a
PDF to your visitors.

what kind of page is it anyway?

Image application scale images to fit when printing, that doesn't happen when printing from a
browser, etc.

you've discovered that print is nothing like web work.
it really hasn't grown...it just was never really small!
resizing by grabbing the handles is not the way to do it.

you need to use an image editor (don't use FP to do this - cause FP really isn't an image editor).

Paint is not a good one either. Whatelse you got?

For now you can download IrFanview (free) which will help you resize, optimize, batch convert. You want to resize and optimize your image down to maybe 750 px wide (keep proportions) or smaller, then resave it as jpg (if a photo image), gif if graphics. Use 72 dpi.

Then Import it into FP and replace the other image you have.

You may have to experiment with size.

My camera/printer came with image software called HP Image Editor.
It is so easy to 'RESIZE' the image to fit on my web pages. I can
select either inches or pixels and set the size of the image to fit my
space. I love it!!

In my case, I'm running 1024x768 screen but my older half blind
kinfolks are running 640x480, so I use that as my image size to fill
their screen with my web photos.

And the saved resized pictures are a fraction of the size of the
originals so they load faster on the dialup customers.

So look for image software that lets you resize images.
