i have a user that we just connected an hp 810c printer to. it started
printing out sheet after sheet of some cad document that we didnt prompt it
for. i have done everything i can think of. i shut off the printer, rebooted
the pc set printer to not share, gone into the task manager and ended the
spooling process. it will stop the printing for about a min or two then
"poof". it starts up again. any ideas?

Can you see the document it's printing in the spooler? If so it's probably a
S/W problem. Virus?

If it's on a parallel port try replacing the cable. I think there is a page
feed signal in the cable, perhaps it's faulty?

Otherwise... can you try another printer on the same PC? Perhaps that one
has a faulty paper sensor somewhere in the paper path.

Just to add to the above excellent advice - physically disconnect the
printer from the electrical wall outlet as well as the computer. Let it
sit for a while to clear the printer's memory.

Good idea and while you are at it....

What happens when the printer is powered up but not connected to the PC?

ok thats another thing i did was power it down and unplug it. i havent
replaced the cable but i did try to connect it with a usb cable. it sees the
printer but won't print to it. if its seperated from the pc and powered up
its fine. but once i connect it to the pc then it starts up again. only way
to stop it is in task manager. i close the spoolsv.exe program that stops it
temporarily. i am wondering if maybe that app. has been corrupted? if so any
suggestions on a fix?
