Printing from two sheets in the same workbook

I tried to print from two separate sheets in the same workbook in
Excel 2007. I can manage that, but it seems as if Excel creates two
different print files, so I cannot print double-sided pages.

Does anyone know if it is possible and I'm just doing something wrong?
Anyone know how I can do this?

Thanks.

If you select both sheets prior to printing you will get one print job.

Hi,

If what you are suggesting is that you want the first sheet's printout to
run on into that of the second sheet, that is not going to happen. Each
sheets print range will start a new page.

Now the issue of two sided printing, that is not an Excel option, that is
controlled by your printer/printer drivers and can, in general, be changed by
choosing File, Print, Properties.

Gord, that's what I did. I set the print area on both sheets and then
used Ctrl-Click to select both the worksheets. In Print Preview, I saw
two pages. When I printed it, the little from the printer said it
received two print jobs.

Also, first time I tried, the page orientation of the print area on
the 2nd worksheet was different from the page orientation of the first
(landscape vs portrait). So it seems Excel keeps the two sheets
apart. I really need to print the 2nd worksheet in duplex on the back
of the first. Am I missing something?

Thanks
Mike.

I cannot replicate the problem with my printer.

I get one print job with selected sheets.

Maybe your printer doesn't know what to do with double-sided printing when
you have one sheet in landscape and one in portrait?

I cannot test since my printer does not support double-sided printing.

Thanks for looking into this for me. I did set it to be landscape on
both sheets. It was merely an indication to me that Excel perceived
the two sheets as separate print jobs since one could specify printing
mode for each individual sheet. But of course, as I type this I'm
thinking my assumption might be wrong. However, I still am unable to
print from two sheets as a single print job on both sides of the page.

I'm looking into printing to PDF and using a PDF tool to combine the
two pages.

This made me think and I managed to confirm it (may still be a quirk
of my setup (Vista Ultimate SP 1), but if I select to print to PDF, I
get two file save dialogs, even though I click Print in Excel once and
get a Print preview comprising two pages.

Weird.

Hi,

I've just been confronted to a similar issue.
After selecting your sheets, set the print resolution to the same value in
File Menu > Layout before printing.
Hope this will help you.

Regards.

Print resolution or print orientation? I'm not clear on what print
resolution might be.

Thanks.

What you need to do is to select the sheets you wish to print then "save as"
an xps or pdf file. Once you do this you will be able to duplex print
multiple sheets.
