Is this just one particular document or all documents?
If it's one particular document, is it possible that somehow the font in the
document has been set to hidden? Is the text displayed with a dotted purple
underline beneath it? What happens when you print preview? Or if you toggle
the option to view hidden text?
And if it's all documents, are you sure it's not a problem with the printer?
Can you print from sources other than Word?

If this issue occurs on all documents created in Word then check your ink.
Both the color and black. If you're not out of ink then your print heads may
need cleaning. If you are using the Automatic font color then, more often
than not, even though it appears black your color ink is being used and
"blending" the colors to create black.
