I am trying to print envelopes in Microsoft Word, but each time I place
the envelope in the feed tray and try to print, I receive an error
message. The message states that the wrong paper size is being used,
but I am using #10 size envelopes, the standard size. What do I do to
fix this problem? Thank you.

Post the question in a WORD group? This one is for Windows XP, as in the
title......

You probably need to tell your printer that you've inserted envelopes.
Check your printer's documentation for setting the paper size.

make sure you have the correct envelope size selected in the envelope options
of the print dialog box.

Easier to just write the address on the envolope.

I agree...it is much easier to print addresses with WordPerfect
and it works. Maybe I am doing something wrong but have NEVER
got expected results using Word.

I agree that it is much easier to print addresses with WordPerfect. I
have had this experience with an Epson dot-matrix printer, an Epson
inkjet printer, and with my current HP Inkjet printer. After having
wasted several envelopes with Word, I have now stopped using it for
printing envelopes. Unfortunately, I don't have a WordPerfect version
that will work with Win-XP, and I have gone back to writing addresses
by hand.

Try using labels using Word, easier than printing on envelopes.
Open Word, Tools, Letters and Mailings, Envelopes and Labels, Labels.
Suggest y'all practice using plain paper. Remember to print one label
rather than the whole sheet. On some printers, #1 label refers to the
bottom right of the sheet rather than the expected top left. Practice
using y'alls printer.
