Printing 10 copies of images

B

Bill Dilworth

I have a machine here at work that has a problem and I know you guys will
give me good advice on where to find a solution (so far I've drawn either
blanks or totally irrelevant answers).

Problem is that it prints 10 copies (9 unwanted) of images printed either
directly from windows or initially from PhotoEd. I use PhotoEd a fair
amount, so just switching image apps is not a workable solution.

If I right click on an image in explorer view and select print, it prints 10
copies.
If I open it in PhotoEd and use the print icon on the toolbar, it prints 10
copies.
If I open it in PhotoEd and select File => Print => OK it prints 1 copy.

Under the file associations for JPG, PNG , etc. images I have:
Open
"C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\PhotoEd\PHOTOED.EXE" "%1"

Print
"C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\PhotoEd\PHOTOED.EXE" /p "%1"

Printto
"C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\PhotoEd\PHOTOED.EXE" /pt
"%1" "%2" "%3" "%4"

I've looked for a registry entry by am unable to find anything that looks
like it would do this. Weird.

Where does one ask, since there is no "PhotoEd, maybe WindowsXP system"
newsgroup? Or better yet, does anyone know a solution to my problem?

Sounds like a printer issue...possibly
a corrupt or outdated driver. Have a look

Burgy

Is it a network printer? Someone may have changed the default setting in the
print settings and forgot to change it back.

Thanks for the replies, guys.

Local USB inkjet printer. Shared over, but not controlled over network.

Checked the print preferences copy number, is 1.

I have un-installed and re-installed latest driver from HP website a few
times over the last few weeks trying to get to the bottom of this. All
times with no change.

BTW, I should mention,
HP 9xx series DeskJet printer
Windows XP SP2
2 Gig RAM
Dual 3+ GHz Processors
2 - 200 Gig HDDs ~ 30% free
Scan disk - no errors
Recently defragmented

It is a great system, but this one little thing is driving me nuts.

As an experiment, I think I would completely
uninstall the printer. Then I would connect the
printer and allow WinXP to install the driver.

I use the WinXP basic driver for my HP712
and it runs flawlessly. (FWIW...I'm running
WinXP Pro SP2)

Also, I would consider connecting the printer
with a parallel cable.

As you can see in the following article, WinXP
includes a driver for your HP9xx InkJet printer.

Good Luck.
