Strange problem.

I cant seem to print in Excel. Everytime I click print or
print preview I get the "Current Printer is unavailable".
I've tried different drivers, printer..network..local..
nothing. But Word and the other office suites seems to
have no problems. I've also tried re-installing
Office..also tried different version of Office; 2000, XP,
97... all of them the same with Excel only.

I've never seen this error--so take this with a grain of salt.

When you said you've tried different printer drivers, did you actually remove
the old ones and reinstall--or just point to a different printer?

Do you have the same problem when you use File|Print (or File|print preview)?

Maybe it's the print/print preview icon that's confused.

You could try this:
Tools|customize (just to see that dialog box)
right click on each icon and choose Reset

(you could even delete the file that excel stores all these customizations
(you'll have to rebuild all your customized changes to the toolbars later, if
you do it).

Close excel
Windows Start button
Find (or search)
search for *.xlb
rename all of them to *.xlbOLD

Re-open excel and test it out.

If it worked, dump the *.xlbOLD's and rebuild at your leisure.

If it didn't work, you could rename the *.xlbOLD back to *.xlb.

====
And one last guess....

Does this happen with every excel file--or just one?

If it's just one, try opening excel in safe mode:
windows start button
Run
excel /s

And see if it helps--by starting in safe mode, you've disabled macros (and maybe
their was a "helpful" macro interfering).
