Printer Sharing Problems

I am running WINXP and have installed a new HP printer via USB on a local
computer. However, I would like for my other computers to be able to share
this printer. I made the printer shareable but still not able to recognize
on other printers. Thanks for any help.

You will need to set up local security for each computer. Your type of
network you wish to set up is called a peer to peer network so you must set
up local security for each computer. The computer that has the printer
installed on it is called a print server. So in a nut shell add users and
give them user rights this will fix your trouble.

Thanks for your reply Curtis. Would you mind being a little more specific as
to how to add rights to a user. I'm new at adding printers in the winxp
environment. Thanks

If you have windows xp pro sky’s the limit for security. With home edition
it’s on or off for sharing. But any ways here we go, with window OS systems
there are always two ways to fix the issue. Don't know if you have home or
pro edition. I will give you both ways to add a user.

Start/control panel/user accounts you can use this for home or pro

Start/control panel/administrator tools/computer management/ local users and
groups on the side list. Click local user
Right side window pane right click mouse add user.
I guess in your case you would want to give them administrator rights. This
is for xp pro only.

If you got more question use your help menu or do a Google search.

If you asking how to add different rights to a user well then this can only
be done with xp pro. Home edition is administrator or user only.
Also I think there is a wizard I never use so ask the help menu
