printer pauses after each page can't just print 20 copies

I have a single sheet in excel and the printer pauses after each sheet is
printed.
If I want to print 20 copies of a sheet, the printer will pauses which takes
a long, long time. In the printer window, it will have 20 commands to print
1 page. This does not happen in word or any other program.

It sounds as though you may be asking Excel to collate the pages. This
doesn't help much if your output is a single page, but will result in the
page being composed multiple times. Try clearing that checkbox (just below
the # copies) in the print dialog.
