Printer Install Error

When I try to install a printer on a Windows 2000 Pro PC, I recieve an error
message "Could not install printer, operation could not be completed"

Spooler service is started
RPC service is started

I tried a number of different drivers, and I recieve the same error message
with all of them.
I'm logging in as Administrator, so I'm assuming that permissions is not the
problem.

Any ideas?

For some reason you spooler process has stopped (could be due to a faulty
driver for example). To re-start the spooler simply type 'net start spooler'
in a command window.
