I have just downloaded a DELL 725 printer driver. Why is the file so
large, ca. 20MB?

Most likely because it has lots of other things (Head cleaning etc)
built in and many fonts / languages etc...

They tend to be like the phone book, 99.9% you will never use, bit

And also, 20MB is really is a tiny file, not a large one at all.
Although 20 million sounds like a large number, at today's disk
prices, it's worth $.02 US, or even less.
