Cross post from XP Support: Just had my local computer biz upgrade from Win98 to WinXP Home. Downloaded new driver for the HP Officejet 710 per the HP website, but the result is endless loops of Install Wizard after "Finish". The computer pro spent a week working on that issue sans success. I, a mere tinkerer, fiddled some more and decided to go public after the usual search and delete, reinstall missions fizzled. Words of wisdom

The expert should have reviewed Cori's excellent site:
http://www.coribright.com/Windows/ Check on deinstallation and then
installation of printers.

BTW, XP should have that printer driver available. HP's drivers for XP
are many times bozo (IMO, that is).

Maybe you should check the slithy toves.

My kids hp712 does the same thing but only if network is unavailable and
insists upon installing drivers for a hp710.

They are the same drivers, so I wouldn't lose any sleep over it.

If it's continually installing after every reboot, change the LPT setting in
the BIOS to EPP.... and if you uninstall and reinstall, do it correctly...

And if upgrading from one operating system to another .... PLEASE DISCONNECT
the printer FIRST!!!!!!!!!!!!!
