I'm not sure from your posting if the PC is dead or the printer... or even
both?
Can you hear anything from inside the PC like the fans begin to start
turning? If you connect anything else to that power socket on the wall,
does it work? (the vacuum clean, a light... anything?
If everything else seems to work from that power socket, then go on to the
next paragraph. If nothing else works from that power socket, then check
the circuit breaker box or fuse box, depending on where you live in the
world (US uses circuit breakers, most of Europe uses fuse boxes, having
never lived elsewhere, I couldn't tell you... ask someone who knows
something about power!)
If nothing moves inside the PC, it's probably the PSU (power supply unit)
that needs replacing.
These are fairly cheap. Probably no more than $30 and don't take a degree
in neurosurgery to replace. Lots of info online about how to do it.
If the PC is working but not the printer, then its something inside the
printer that's 'blown'. It would necessitate your taking the printer in to
an HP qualified service technician. Remember that they can charge a lot.
Consider whether it's economically viable to have the work done or whether
it's cheaper and better in the long run to replace the printer with a brand
new one that's got a year's guarantee with it and will print in better
resolution and quicker than your old discontinued one.
