Print to File

Has anyone used the "print to file" option? I have an Epson printer
and there is an option on one of the pages to "print to file". I have
tried to use it a few times for one reason or another, but it seems
like a useless option because the file produced is the code that would
have gone to the printer if "print to file" had not been chosen. So,
it is un-readable code and if you then print to a printer, all you
will get is the un-readable code characters.

Is there any way to send this code directly to the printer so that it
will actually print as if it had been sent directly to the printer in
the first place?

A lot of words to ask a simple question.

If my printer was out of ink, and I wanted a printed copy of a
document, is there any way to "print to file" and then use that file
to produce a printed copy of the document later?

No. If you wish to do this, then convert the document to PDF using one of
the many converters available.
