Print to file problem

Using XP PRO SP2. Immediately after installation and for quite some time
thereafter everything worked perfectly. Documents were created with
Pagemaker, the document was printed to file in postscript and that file used
to create .pdf files. The same was done with Word, with no problems.

Now we cannot print to file. Several different printer drivers have been
tried in several different programs. We either get absolutely nothing or an
empty file.

Even trying to print a Test Page results in an empty file.

There are no error messages of any kind.

Updates to windows have been installed since the initiall XP install as well
as FaxTalk Messenger Pro Ver 7.1 from Thought Communications.

We are completely lost on this one. Any assistance would be greatly
appreciated.

The problem has been solved. The installation of FaxTalk Communicator 4.5
took control of the FILE: port, preventing any other print driver from using
it. The vendor, Thought Communications Incorporated were extremely helpful.
The following link will find their knowledge base file with the fix,
"http://www.faxtalk.com/support/kb/ftc/kb4014.htm". I have since installed
their recent program, FaxTalk Messenger, and am very pleased with it.
