Print to fax (Vista Home Premium)

Carol

I just purchased an HP all-in-one. The fax portion of the unit appears as a
printer option whan I want to print a documant. However, when the fax is
selected, sometimes I get the fax info promt and othere times, nothing
happens. What causes this and how can I fix it. Has anyone determined how
to send/receive faxes throught their computer without having to print a hard
copy? I used to use Winfax Pro, but that (and everything else) is not Vista
compatible. Instead of stepping into the future with Vista I feel as though
I have taken a giant step backwards.

This is not a Vista nor a Microsoft issue. There is no Microsoft Fax product
that works with all-in-one printers. It is up to HP to provide you with the
necessary software for your printer.

Hi Carol,

What Russ says is correct Vista home premium does not come with the fax
support and the s/w has to be provided by the manufecturer .

However the Manufecture are providing the s/w and most of these are vista
compatible and as you say it is a new printer i am sure there is one from HP
so if you can provide me with the model number of printer i would be able to
help.

There are ways to make the older s/w work on vista but its too soon first we
will check if there is a solution available if not then ofcourse will tell
you .

I have 3 computers on my network. Two of them are running Windows
XP. I set the BVRP Phone tools for shared printing on a windows XP
machine and then installed it as a network printer on my Vista home
premium machine and now I can fax any document on my vista machine
through the windows X?P machine on the network.
