Now that I found the Clipboard viewer, I was trying to capture the desktop
with the "Print Screen"button, but it does not work. When I open the viewer,
all I see is blackness. When I paste it to Paint, same thing, blackness.
Is this a problem with the keyboard, or the applet?
How do I find out? Do I need to update something? Any suggestions would be
great.

Thank you. Sirius.

You can take two different kinds of screen shots:
A picture of the whole screen by pressing PRINT SCREEN
A picture of the active window by pressing ALT-PRINT SCREEN

Some links to some screen capture programs:-

Try this sequence:
1. Press PrtScr
2. Click Start / Run / mspaint{OK}
3. Press Ctrl+V
You should now see a picture of your previous scree in the PaintBrush
screen.

Sounds like print screen is buggered for some reason. Have you tried a third
party screen shot utility? You might try MWSnap (freeware) and see if that
will work.

Perhaps the problem is WHAT you are trying to screencapture. For
instance, "movies" don't work.

Yes, this freeware did work. Thank you.
I am still curious though, what happened to print screen.

No, not a movie, a cat photo from screensavers.com,
that's hidden someplace in my pc and I can't find where they put it.

Nope, it's not working. It's all blackness what was captured.

Use Ctrl-C to put something ELSE on the clipboard first (a line of text,
anything). Then try the Prt-Scrn button. Then paste the result in MSPaint.
If you get the first batch of stuff, your Prt-Scrn key's broken.

What's the make and model of your keyboard?

I filled the screen with an internet explorer window
and the print screen button did work with that.
So I guess it's not the button, Bob I was right, thank you.
I did get the cat with the freebie software
Mr. 3c273 recommended, and it's not bad, but not the full resolution.
Turns out this screen saver thing is spyware, so I really would like to get
even with them and snag their photo....

So I have this older Windows XP computer "infected" on purpose for the
experiment.

Stealing from a thief is not really stealing.....

Thank you.
