Hi. I am writing some procedure notes and want to insert command buttons (eg
the Save button) into the main body. I can do it by hitting print screen and
then cropping but it look messy and you cannot crop right to the edge. Does
anyone know how to insert these cleanly.

Thanks in advance

A quick-and-dirty method is to copy button faces when the Customize dialog
is open. Use Tools | Customize (or any other shortcut to open the dialog),
right-click on the desired button, choose Copy Button Image, close
Customize, and Ctrl+V to paste the button face where needed. Repeat as
required.

This will paste just the button face, however, with no border or depth, and
the resolution is not as good as the screen display. For better results, use
SnagIt as JoAnn suggested. You may want to turn the button on (if it's a
toggle button) or move the pointer over it so that it is selected (and
surrounded by a border); you can omit the mouse pointer from the capture.
You can experiment with various types of captures, but using a delay (to
permit the button to be selected) and capturing a region should work; you
can then crop the result right up to the border. Or you could add a border,
shadow, etc.
