sI am prep'ing a doc and am dropping screen print into it.

Sometimes times rather than drop an image of the whole screen in it would be
good to be able to drop a portion in which could then be larger, less
cluttered and clearer.

help??

Alt+PrtScr will capture the active window/dialog. Beyond that, you'll need
to crop/edit the image in a graphics app (MS Paint if you have no other). If
you're using a lot of screen captures, it would be worth your while to get a
dedicated screen capture app such as SnagIt (www.techsmith.com), which gives
you much more flexibility in what you can capture, allows you to include the
mouse pointer, capture scrolling dropdown lists, etc.
