Print problem vista 64 INTERNET explorer

trying to print from INTERNET explorer - get error message Before you can
print you need to select a printer.

The printer has been installed and working for years. HP laser jet 1200.
But for some unknown reason INTERNET explorer will not print and this error
message keeps coming up.
