Print problem in workgroup

R

Ryle

Working at a client's small office. 5PC's, networked w/IP
only, 2 printers, PC attached and shared. One dot matrix,
one LexmarkZ55. Win2k on desktops. Users print fine most
of the time, then, out of nowhere, spool 4bytes and NO
MORE to printer, printing halted on Lexmark only.

Check hard drives, moved printer to beefier workstation
(plenty of HD, MEM, processor), downloaded newer drivers,
reshared printer.

What am I not seeing? thanks

Hi,

I have exactly the same problem: peer-to-peer network, one
computer with Lexmark z65 over USB and set up for sharing.
I added even a local User on the machine which connects
directly to th eprinter with identical name and password as
the user on the remote machine and gave it all the possible
permissions (to spool disk, to printer etc.) Indeed, it
spools 4 bytes and then the thing hangs in the printer
spool, no way to delete, cancel, only reboot of the machine
which connects to the printer helps to remove the item from
the spool. As I do not have another printer I cannot test
this. Can you? I wonder whether this is a MS or a Lexmark
problem.
